What is Hyperiforce?

St John's Wort Hyperiforce is a traditional herbal medicinal product used to relieve the symptoms of slightly low mood and mild anxiety, exclusively based upon long-standing use as a traditional remedy. Always read the leaflet

The most popular use of St. John's wort is to help with feelings of low mood. This may come about when events in your life do not go according to plan - you lose confidence and become more prone to anxiety. At such times you feel that you could benefit from some help to cope with life's challenges.

Dosage of Hyperiforce® St. John's wort tablets

Hyperiforce® may be used by adults (over 18 years of age) and the elderly.
Directions for use: 1 tablet three times daily.

Hyperiforce® St. John's wort is for oral use only. Do not take more than the recommended dosage. Taking too much is unlikely to be harmful.

For oral use only.

Do not use if you are allergic to any of the ingredients, have been diagnosed with depression, if you think you may be depressed or if you are about to undergo surgery.

St John’s wort products must not be taken at the same time as many medicines prescribed by your doctor, hormonal contraceptives, including the Pill and some medicines you can buy.

Read leaflet carefully before use.

Increased sensitivity of the skin to sunlight may occur in rare cases, especially in fair-skinned individuals.

Keep out of the reach and sight of children.

Ingredients

Hyperiforce® St. John's wort tablets contain the extract of hypericum obtained from freshly harvested, organically grown herbs.

One tablet contains 66 mg of extract (as dry extract) from fresh St John’s wort (Hypericum perforatum L.) flowering herb (equivalent to 170-305 mg of dried St John’s wort flowering herb). Extraction solvent: Ethanol 68% V/V.

The other ingredients used for the tablet are microcrystalline cellulose, croscarmellose sodium, colloidal anhydrous silica and glycerol distearate.

St. John's wort side effects

Like all St. John's wort products, Hyperiforce® may cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Side effects of Hyperiforce® St. John's wort tablets are likely to affect less than 1 in every 1,000 people and may take the form of digestive symptoms (sickness, nausea, stomach discomfort, diarrhoea, constipation, loss of appetite) as well as skin reactions (itching, skin rash and urticaria).

In addition to using Hyperiforce® Hypericum, lifestyle changes may be helpful if you are suffering from low mood and mild anxiety.

1. What are the benefits of Hyperiforce® St. John's wort tablets?

Hyperiforce® St. John's wort is used to relieve mild anxiety, low mood and other similar symptoms.

2. How long will it take for the benefits of Hyperiforce® St. John's wort to appear?

You should start to feel a benefit within 6 weeks of starting Hyperiforce®. If you do not feel any benefits or if your symptoms worsen, you should consult your doctor.

3. Can I take Hypericum extracts with my sleeping tablets?

Please read the Hyperiforce® St. John's wort tablet in-pack leaflet to check if the prescribed medicine you are taking is on the list of medicines contraindicated with all St. John's wort preparations.

4. Can I take Hypericum extracts if I am on the Pill?

No. Like other products containing St. John's wort, Hyperiforce® may interfere with the action of the Pill and other hormone-based contraceptives, such as Depo-Provera.

5. How long can I take Hypericum extracts for?

Hyperiforce® can be taken for as long as you feel it to be necessary, provided that you stick to the recommended dosage. Speak to your doctor if you do not feel the benefit of taking St. John's wort extracts, or if your symptoms are worsen.

6. Will I notice any side effects from taking Hyperiforce® St. John's wort?

Like all medicines, this product can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Side effects of St. John's wort extracts may include minor digestive symptoms and skin reactions. These are only found occasionally (in less than 1 in every 1,000 people) and usually resolve after a short period of time.

Side effects in the form of skin reactions are more likely to occur if you take more than the recommended dosage. If this happens to you, stop taking St. John's wort. Please read the in-pack leaflet for more details of the side effects of Hyperiforce® St. John's wort tablets.

7. Why does the information leaflet for Hyperiforce® have a warning for peanut allergy suffers when there aren’t any peanut products on the ingredients list?

A percentage of people with an allergy to peanuts may also find themselves to be allergic to soya polysaccharide. Soya polysaccharide is one of the excipients in Hyperiforce® tablets and therefore the warning is put there as a precaution for people with peanut allergy.
