Aquamin is produced from a natural mineral source – calcareous marine algae (Lithothamnion sp.). The seaweed is a sustainable crop and harvested from the North Atlantic seabed.
Thanks to its unique structure, Aquamin is easier to digest than rock and animal bone based minerals making it suitable for those with sensitive digestive systems.

Vitamin K2 is a fat-soluble vitamin, playing a central role in regulating calcium metabolism. All over the body, vitamin K2 is needed to activate vitamin K-dependent proteins, which help get calcium to where it's needed and prevent harmful deposits anywhere else.
Studies show that many of us around the world aren't getting enough vitamin K2. For a long while, human diets provided plenty of vitamin K2. But somewhere along the way, that stopped being the case, and a lot of people started developing vitamin K2 deficiency. Dietary recommendations range between 75 to 120 mcg per day, but these can be higher for certain populations. No matter who we are, or what we do, we all need vitamin K2.

There is often some confusion around the differences between vitamins K, K1 and K2.
Vitamin K is a fat-soluble vitamin that exists naturally in multiple forms, K1 (phylloquinone) or K2 (menaquinone).
Vitamin K1 is found in high amounts in leafy green vegetables. It has a short half-life, and is mainly used by the liver to support blood clotting. Deficiencies are rare.
Vitamin K2: also known as menaquinone, is normally found in animal-derived and fermented products. Unlike K1, Vitamin K2 is used not just by the liver, but also by our bones and vasculature.
It activates many calcium-binding proteins, such as osteocalcin or matrix Gla protein, which play roles in building and maintaining bone mass, and preventing calcification of the arteries and other soft tissues, respectively. Many of us are deficient in vitamin K2.
